Blowfish stifle Owls; win second straight for first time

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — After knocking off the Florence RedWolves last night for their first win at home in 2017, Lexington County set their sights on the Forest City Owls looking for two straight.

The Fish got off to a quick start in the first on a leadoff triple by Zach Spivey (Bethune-Cookman) that was followed up by a Mickey Dugan (Gardner-Webb) sacrifice fly.

The Blowfish added two more in the second on a Ryan Brown (North Greenville) sac fly and then an RBI single from Brian Moore (St. Johns River State) through the hole to give the Fish the 3-0 lead.

Forest City added a run in the third but the Blowfish struck back for a four run bottom of the fourth that was sprung by a two run double from JT Stone (Miami, OH).

A thirty minute lightning delay slowed the game down but wouldn’t slow the Fish down tonight at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.

Lexington County cruised throughout the game getting good pitching again for the second consecutive game fanning eight Owls in tonight’s ballgame.

The Blowfish won their second consecutive game for the first time in 2017 and look for three straight tomorrow night on the road in Forest City.

Coverage begins on z93.1 The Lake at 6:45 and first pitch from McNair Field is slated for 7:00 pm.
