Ryan, a Lexington native, will be entering his junior season with North Greenville University after spending his freshman season with College of Charleston.
In his freshman season with College of Charleston he started 60 games in the outfield for the Cougars. As team’s leadoff hitter, in 289 plate appearances Ryan posted a .320 average, the third-highest on the team, led team with .421 on-base percentage, and struck out just 26 times. Was second in the conference with 37 walks and 63 runs scored, and fifth with 15 stolen bases. He racked up the post-season accolades being named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Freshman All-American, D1Baseball Freshman All-American second team, and conference All-Rookie team.
Ryan has started every game for North Greenville so far this season. He is hitting .307 with 29 RBI, 45 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases.
Split time during the 2016 summer season with the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod League, and the Plymouth Pilgrims of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. He started the summer with the Mariners playing in 3 games in which he hit .222 with two runs batted in. For the rest of the summer season, Ryan played in 32 games for the Pilgrims. He hit .292 scoring 26 runs and knocked in eight runs and hit one home run. He also stole seven bases.
