The Blowfish Baseball Club is starting the 2018 Blowfish Reading Program with the goal to provide students in Lexington County, the Midlands, and surrounding communities, with encouragement to become better students and better citizens through reading. The Blowfish provide students with the opportunity to earn a complimentary ticket to a designated Blowfish game as a fun incentive to read and improve study habits.

Students are challenged to read a maximum of four grade-appropriate, extra-curricular books during a four week period to receive free admission and special recognition at an assigned Blowfish home game. Schools may choose which four weeks to run the program to better fit the school’s curriculum. The school with the highest participation rate receives $500 for new library books and will be recognized on field before their designated game.

Students are challenged to read at least one book at their appropriate grade level. Each book they read earns more prizes. Prizes include items like tickets, a Blowie Snowie and more! (Click here for details)

Schools within a 25 mile radius can request an appearance from the team’s mascot, Blowie, to get the students excited about reading and participating in this program. If your school is unable to reserve or schedule an appearance, the Blowfish will send you a personalized video to show to your students, as well as PDF posters to distribute at your school!

Each student will receive a Blowfish Bookmark and Blowfish Reading Log to track his/her reading progress. Once completed, the log is to be turned into their teachers who will then send home a congratulatory letter to parents/guardians with further instructions on how to reserve tickets and claim prizes.

To ensure your school’s spot in our 2018 Blowfish Reading Program, please contact the Blowfish offices for a school enrollment form. The quicker your school signs up, the easier it is to schedule a mascot appearance!
